New HP Proliant DL580 G7, BL680/620 G7 & DL 980 G7 BIOS updates that include updated Intel E7500 and Intel E7 microcode to fix the following errata:

  • Addressed a processor issue with Intel Xeon 7500-series Processors and Intel Xeon E7-series Processors that may result in unpredictable system behavior including application level errors, system hangs, Windows blue screens, Linux kernel panics, or a VMware ESX Purple Screen of Death (PSoD).
  • This is due to Intel Errata BP47 & BA131 where “an Unexpected Page Fault or EPT Violation May Occur After Another Logical Processor Creates a Valid Translation for a Page”

This Intel Errata is not unique to HP & impacts all E7500 series and E7-series CPU’s.  HP considers these updates a critical fix for immediate action.
