Checking HBA Firmware and Driver in ESXi 5.5

 

In versions of VMware ESXi prior to 5.5, it was possible to find out the exact model of an HBA and the exact firmware and driver versions by checking the /proc/scsi/qla2xxx/ folder (for QLogic) and /proc/scsi/lpfc820/ folder (for Emulex).

Starting with ESXi 5.5, you do not see native drivers in the /proc nodes.

To view native driver information, run the command:

/usr/lib/vmware/vmkmgmt_keyval/vmkmgmt_keyval -a

The output is very similar:

QLogic
